MOT Testing

Tests at Tutts of Dorking cost £50.00 and are exempt from VAT. They are carried out in a separate bay (from which you can watch your MOT if you wish) on a state-of-the-art ATL (automated test lane). Re-tests are free within 10 working days. All repair work can be quoted for and carried out by us, however you’re welcome to repair your vehicle yourself or use your normal garage.

While-you-wait appointments are available at half past the hour intervals but must be booked in advance.

To help you obtain a pass first time you can carry out simple checks of items such as lights and tyres and ensure your screen washer bottle is topped up yourself.

To check the status of the MOT test on your car or one you are thinking of buying, you will need the registration number and the document reference number from the front of the V5c registration document, go to the direct.gov website and the result will provide the date of the last text, the mileage reading at the time of the test and the MOT expiry date.

If you would like to see the MOT history (dating back to 2005 when MOTs became computerised) you can do that by supplying the same information on the direct.gov website and the result will provide MOT dates, mileages and details of failure items.

MOT tests are regulated by VOSA, part of the Department For Transport.
